Prenez ma contribution de la part de qui elle vient : un tout nouveau venu sur la planète DEBIAN…
J’ai fraichement installé une SQUEEZE KDE et j’ai eu le même problème de connexion. Etant un peu (beaucoup) tétu, j’ai persisté à entrer plusieurs fois mon mot de passe et la connexion s’est finalement réalisée.
Ce problème n’est apparu que pour ma première connexion, immédiatement après l’installation, les connexions suivantes n’ont plus posé de problème.

Je viens d’apprendre encore une chose très intéressante, on peut avoir accès en tty(1) (par exemple) à partir de l’écran “login et mdp” avec Ctrl + Alt + F1 
Chose que j’ignorais.
Lacune comblée !
/home est monté.
j’ai pu créer un fichier /home/pc-1-loreleil/test_ecriture, et y enregistrer quelques mots vite fait.
Un cat de ce fichier me renvoi les quelques mots inscrits.

Tu arrives donc à te connecter en tty et /home est monté en écriture puisque tu as réussi à créer un fichier test.
Vérifie l’appartenance des fichiers dans $HOME :
$ ls -la
Autre hypothèse : X
Est-ce que tu as un fichier xorg.conf dans $HOME ? Si oui renomme le ou efface le.
j'ai fait un bak de /etc/X11/xorg.conf, ensuite rm -ri /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Re-boot souci identique pour l'instant.

je viens de créer un nouvelle utilisateur, 
même punition, le souci reste entier … 
Tu laisses la fenêtre de gdm3 en paix, tu bascules en tty ctrl+alt+F2
login : l’utilisateur que tu veux
et tu lances
$ startx – :1
tu consultes les messages d’erreurs ainsi que /var/log/X*.log
Si tu veux nous communiquer les messages d’erreurs, tu les isoles en les redirigeant de la sorte :
$ startx – :1 2>messages-d-erreur
heeeuuu, j’ignore à quoi je devais m’attendre en lançant $ startx – :1 , mais ce n’était probablement pas ce que j’ai vu.
Écran tty2, avec un paquet de messages d’erreurs qui ont défilés, je suis repassé sur OS maître et j’ai monter sdb1, 6,7,8 sur /mnt/chroot et j’ai pu récupérer la sortie console startx – 1 2>
Première fois que je vois un tel message, je n’ai pas compris grand chose …

C’est bien ce que j’avais fait l’ami, j’ai juste fait une erreur au post précédent dans le copier/coller de la commande.
Je viens d’y retourner (sur le clone) en tty2.

Attribue les droits sur /tmp de cette façon :
et essaye de nouveau.
J’ai vraiment lancé cette commande sans conviction, ceci dans la mesure ou /tmp fût copier par rsync sur le “clone” par le biais de la “sauvegarde”.
Commande lancer après un # chroot /mnt/chroot.
Même punition au re-boot …
Apparemment :
# chmod 777 /var/tmpJe n’avais pas exclus /var/tmp avec rsync.
