Intel 945GME, Sid et accélération 3D

Bonjour à tous,

J’ai un soucis avec l’accélération 3D depuis… quelques temps (je ne l’utilise pas beaucoup, donc impossible de dire quand ça a commencé)!

Je tourne à ~20FPS sans la transparence activée, avec la transparence dans les effets de bureau KDE ça monte à 60FPS. Auparavant (quand?) je tournais à environ 300FPS (quoique certains forumeux aient réussi à faire beaucoup mieux avec cette puce).

J’ai essayé de mettre un xorg.conf qui fonctionnait bien avant chez moi, et des xorg.conf indiqués comme fonctionnant pour cette carte, mais c’est identique à pas de xorg.conf niveau performances.

Le module chargé est bien le i915.

J’ai purgé et réinstallé xorg, aucun changement.

Je pensais retrograder le noyau ou xorg en stable pour tester et éventuellement faire un rapport de bug, à moins que vous n’ayiez une meilleure idée?

Je vais suivre ton fil, j’ai le même chipset et j’ai pas encore listé tous les bogues encore actif sur ce dit chipset :083

Si tu est en sid tu dois avoir au moins le kernel 2.6.38 qui gère normalement le kms mieux que le 2.6.32 de squeeze.
Normalement c’est activé par défaut mais tu peux rajouter dans grub l’option i915.modeset=1 pour forcer xorg à utiliser le driver intel car xorg-server-intel reconnait trois driver pour les gpu intel : vesa (i915.modeset=0), fb et intel.

Il y a aussi des pistes avec uxa et exa dans un xorg.conf.

Mais en résumé, j’avais déjà posté un coup de gueule sur les gpu intel, les perfs sont en constante régression.

Mais dans ce cas, lsmod ne me renverrait pas le module i915 mais vesa ou fb?

C’est un peu ce que je crains. Dommage car elle sont pas si mal ces puces…

Pour voir quel driver est chargé il faut regarder le log de xorg.
Mais comme son direct rendering est yes je suppose que c’est le driver intel qui est utilisé.

Sinon je te joins ci-dessous mon bout de xorg.conf qui m’a permis d’avoir un affichage a peu près décent (mais en retrait versus lenny).

Je ne sais pas si tu connais la manip pour générer un xorg.conf “maison”?

Euh, nano xorg.conf?

Bon, l’UXA ne me donne pas de meilleur résultat que le XAA. D’ailleurs, si X ne refusait pas de se lancer quand je mets des conneries dedans, je me dirais qu’il ne prend pas en compte mon Xorg!

Et j’ai forcé le i915 à tout hasard dans Grub2, toujours bloqué à 20FPS.

2 possibilités :

  • Tu as sous la main un vieux xorg.conf qui marchait et il faut le copier dans /etc/X11
  • Tu est obligé d’en générer un
    Pour le générer (de mémoire) : depuis l’invite gdm (ou autre) ouvrir une session terminal ou depuis le graphique faire un alt+F1 et se loguer en root.
    Rentrer le commande suivante : service gdm stop

Ensuite lancer la commande x -configure qui va générer un fichier xorg.new dans le dossier root (je pense qu’il est possible de générer le fichier en user pour le récupérer dans son home)

Modifier les options que l’on souhaite dans xorg.new et le renommer en xorg.conf avant de le copier dans /etc/X11.

Ensuite service gdm start et vérifier le log de xorg pour voir s’il prend bien en compte le xorg.conf.

Perso je pense que l’option i915.modeset=1 dans ton grub devrait améliorer l’ordinaire.

J’en avais un qui traînait sur SD. À l’époque, je râlais car j’étais à 300FPS :smiley:.

J’ai essayé, pas de changement. J’ai trouvé dans /etc/initramfs-tools/modules des bouts de mesa et de framebuffer qui traînaient, j’ai viré et j’ai laissé i915 modeset, mais toujours 20FPS!

Bon, j’ai fait des tests:

Sid actuelle:
~ 20FPS

Sid avec kernel 2.6.38:
~ 20FPS

Sid avec 2.6.32:
~ 20FPS

En live:

Ubuntu 11.04 (kernel 2.6.38):
~ 60 FPS

Kubuntu 11.04 (kernel 2.6.38) (test fait avec kubuntu au cas où Unity ait un effet):
~ 60FPS

Là, je recherche dans le forum la période où j’avais de meilleures perfs: 2009.

Ubuntu 9.04 (kernel 2.6.28):
~ 572 FPS!!
Modules activés : agp_part; intel_agp; i915; drm.

Là, je cherche un moyen d’installer proprement un 2.6.28 sur ma sid pour confirmer mon hypothèse. Mais il n’est plus dans les dépôts…

C’est bizarre car je suis sous squeeze avec un kernel 2.6.38 et je tourne aux environs de 300 fps glxgears.
Si ça peut t’aider je peux publier mon xorg.conf, mon lsmod et les config rattachés?

Ca peut sembler pas mal, mais j’avais 1000 fps au même test sous lenny avec un xorg.conf optimisé.

Soit glxgears ne fonctionne plus de la même façon (it is not a benchmark), soit le support des gpu intel est en nette régression.

Je penche aussi pour la seconde option vu les perfs du système…

perso ça fait un moment que je tourne à 60… Mais si il y a mieux je suis preneur…

Merci, je teste ça ce soir (d’abord modules puis le Xord pour voir ce qui joue le plus)!

Toujours pareil avec tes fichiers de conf :frowning:

EDIT: J’ai installé tout ce qui concerne de près ou de loin mesa et je plafonne à ~200FPS.

J’ai appris en cours de route que glxgears donnait des infos non fiables si l’on utilisait vsync (mais pourtant ce n’était pas si mal avant?), donc j’ai aussi testé avec FrozenBobble qui est en effet plus fluide…
