Lecteur smart media (photo num) en panne ?

Tt fonctionnait normalement il y a un mois environ, je n’ai rien changé à ce niveau mais hier, en voulant transférer des photos sur l’ordi : impossible.
marque du lecteur : Sandisk usb.
msg : “ne peut déterminer le système de fichier” quand je mets en “auto” ds fstab et “/dev/sda1 n’existe pas” quand je mets en “Vfat” ds fstab.
à l’enfichement, les deux diodes s’allument, une s’éteint rapidement et la seconde, s’éteint env 1 mn après.
mes essais :
– sur ttes les versions Debian + mandriva + Kubuntu = idem partout.
– sur deux ordis différents et sur plusieurs prises usb = idem
– avec une clé usb ds les m^ conditions, elle est bien reconnue
– lsusb : mobil disk présent avec clé mais avec lecteur smart media absent.
– lsmod : usb_storage bien présent (vérifié en le modprobant)
– j’ai aussi essayé avec ‘uba1’ ds fstab (ça m’avait dépanné une fois) mais pas mieux.
Question :
Lecteur mort ? pourquoi sans ne rien toucher ?
Si mort, acheter quel genre de lecteur pour remplacer ?
