Ma debian n'utilise-t-elle qu'un seul de mes processeurs?

Voila, j’ai fait tourner mencoder cet apres midi, et j’ai remarqué ça :

La ligne important, c’est celle du cpu : on dirais que le processus n’utilise que la moitié du processeur. En effet, j’ai un processeur double coeur.
Y a t il un souci ou bien n’ai-je pas tout compris?

ps : il n’y a pas que avec mencoder que cela se produit, mais avec tou les processus gourmands en cpu.

Installes le paquet htop et lances la commande htop.
Tu verras une interface similaire à top mais à l’avantage de voir un barre par processeur et donc tu verras combien de proc sont détecté.

Il semblerait que j’ai un cpu01 et un cpu1, donc bien un double coeur comme il le faut. C’est ça ou je suis trop fatigué pour bien comprendre? Dans ce cas pourquoi utiliser au maximum 50% du cpu?

Ah, une autre question, qu’est ce qu’on noyau SMP? J’ai installé le noyau proposé dans les dépots, le linux-image-2.6.26-1.686

Un noyau qui prend en charge le Symmetric multiprocessing [1].

J’ai un double-coeur AMD64 chez moi (6000+, pour les détails) et quand je regarde la courbe d’utilisation des proceusseurs, (moniteur système de GNOME) il alterne les deux.

J’en ai déduit que c’est pour le refroidissement.

Peut-ètre a tu fait le test quand un des coeurs refroidis.

Edit: J’ai pris le noyau AMD64, je crois que ça aide.

ton prosso est un 64 bits. d’après mes recherches il n’y a pas sur le marché de processeurs multicoeurs en 32 bits.
ce qui est confirmé par ton cat cpuinfo sur la ligne: clflush size : 64

mais je ne pense pas que de changer seulement le noyau sera suffisant, il faut que tu changes l’architecture de ta distribution (actuellement i386 probablement), pour profiter des programmes compilés en 64 bits.

et tu peux prendre la version amd64 pour ton install, il n’y aura pas de problèmes.

j’ai essayé le noyau amd64, ça tourne bien je dois dire. Enfin si je n’ai d’autres choix que la réinstall, tant pis, je vais la faire! J’ai fait les test avec devede, en amd64, je tourne jusuq’à 80% de cpu, avec le dernier noyau i386, jusuq’à 70%. (eh oui, avec le dernier les 2 sont utilisés.) L’idée du refroidissement d’un des procs semble possible en effet.
Bon, eh bien si cette ligne me dit que je peux le faire en amd64, eh bien c’est parti!

Si tu n’as pas un noyau SMP, il te suffit dans installer un.
Les deux cpu apparaissent dans /proc/cpuinfo.
Donne enfin «dmesg | grep CPU» et «dmesg | grep cpu»
Je pense que tes deux CPU sont reconnus.

PS: Le double coeur peut être aussi géré par un 32 bits à ma connaissance.

Ben oui pour le support du double corps et non dans la mesure où le 64 bits te permet de profiter vraiment à plein de ta machine. Si jamais tu as des soucis, tu peux toujours faire un chroot 32 bits transparent (cf http://forum.debian-fr.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14673).

Je ne rencontre pas de soucis, tous les pilotes fonctionnent. Juste firestarter, mais j’ai pas torp cherché, ça devrait se régler bien vite.
