    * cd /tmp
    * gunzip oss3993d-linux-x86-v26.tar.gz
    * tar xvf oss3993d-linux-x86-v26.tar

Ensuite :
    * cd /tmp
    * chmod +x oss-install
    * ./oss-install

Enabling KDE system sounds with OSS

OSS needs to be started (soundon) before KDE. Otherwise the KDE system sounds
will not play. The way to fix this is adding the soundon command to the system
startup files in /etc/rc.d (usually /etc/rc.d/rc.local). However this method
is for experts only (check the right way from the documentation of your Linux
distribution). The safe way of stopping the KDE session after executing
soundon and starting a new one.
et ça aussi :
Loading OSS automatically on system start

It’s possible to load OSS automatically when system is started. You just
need to add the /usr/lib/oss/bin/soundon command to the system’s startup files.
However don’t ever make OSS to load automatically before
testing that it loads without locking the system (due to I/O or IRQ conflict).
Don’t ever try to modify the system initialization files without sufficient
knowledge about their usage.

Making this change requires good Linux system admin skills. Making a
mistake when modifying the system startup files may make your system
nonbootable. Please ask help from the nearest Linux expert if you don’t
know exactly how this step should be done.

There are two different ways to get OSS activated automatically:

  1. Most Linux distributions have the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file which is
    executed during system startup. If this file exists (there is no point
    in creating it if one doesn’t exist) you can append the soundon
    command after the last line of this file. Use full path to the
    command. If OSS was installed in /usr/lib/oss the right command to
    add is /usr/lib/oss/bin/soundon. Note that there is no reason to
    unload OSS when the system is shut down.

  2. If /etc/rc.d/rc.local doesn’t exist then the procedure is slightly
    different. You need to copy the S99oss file from the directory
    you installed OSS (usually /usr/lib/oss/etc/S99oss) to /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99oss.
    In this way OSS will get started when the system has entered full
    multiuser mode (runlevel 3).
debian:/home/raphael# soundon
Kernel and OSS module versions do not match - forcing rebuild.
Building the OSS kernel module - please wait…
