[Raspberry 3] Debian ARM64

Bonjour à toutes et à tous,

Je viens d’avoir un rapsberry 3.

Savez-vous s’il y a une documentation officielle pour installer Debian, sur un pi3 avec le support ARM64 ?

Car j’ai trouvé une doc sur le wiki de debian.org, RaspberryPi3, mais non officielle et non supportée…

Ou avez-vous effectué la manip ?

d’après ton lien, ce n’est pas demain la veille qu’on aura une image d’installation officielle de Stretch pour RPi3 (et donc pas vraiment de doc officielle, parce que c’est toujours le truc qu’on fait en dernier ^^).

Tu veux vraiment installer Debian vanilla sur ton Pi 3 ? Personnellement je me satisfais très bien de Raspbian, une Debian maintenue par la fondation Raspberry Pi, il y a toute la doc nécessaire.

En fait, j’ai déjà test la version. Mais un # uname -a me renvoie Linux pi 4.9.59-v7+ #1047 SMP Sun Oct 29 12:19:23 GMT 2017 armv7l GNU/Linuxsoit le même retour qu’avec un raspberry 2 …

Certains OS (Archlinux par exemple) supportent l’architecture ARMv8. J’me disais, je vais mettre Debian ARM64 (pour profiter de l’architecture 64)

Ah, oui effectivement. Si tu testes l’installation de la version ARM64, je suis curieux de lire ton retour.

Je teste (si je peux, avant la fin de l’année) et vous tiens informé.

Je peux déjà vous dire, que sur ArchLinux ARMv8, ça fonctionne. Par contre, je ne suis pas aller plus loin que l’installation mentionnée dans la doc :

  • La carte son BOSS DAC n’est pas reconnue (pourtant, j’ai suivi la doc officielle, ainsi que des infos chopées sur le net, mais sans résultat concluant),
  • Je n’arrive pas à installer Kodi…

Donc, j’ai laissé tomber.

Je verrais avec Debian.

Conclusion
----------
Les deux OS reconnaissent le raspberry correctement.
Par contre, sous ArchLinux, la carte son n'est pas reconnu. Et sous Debian, le fichier /boot/config.txt est complètement différent. Il est déjà beaucoup plus long. Il faut un peu plus de 7000 lignes.

Il y a bien un partition de boot, mais je n'ai pas encore eu le temps de regarder.

Conclusion

Les deux OS reconnaissent le raspberry correctement.
Par contre, sous ArchLinux, la carte son n’est pas reconnu. Et sous Debian, le fichier /boot/config.txt est complètement différent. Il est déjà beaucoup plus long. Il faut un peu plus de 7000 lignes.

Il y a bien un partition de boot, mais je n’ai pas encore eu le temps de regarder.

En même temps, quel intérêt d’un OS en 64bit avec si peu de mémoire ? En fait, quelle utilisation fais-tu de ton raspberry pour avoir besoin spécifiquement du 64bit ?

Rien de bien spécial. Je l’utilise comme médiacenter. Il y a pleins (xbian, osmc, …) je les ai testé.
Globalement, c’est pareil. Perso, je déconseille openelec (et les dérivés…), car le système est bridé en lecture. Point de vue stabilité, nickel, j’avoue. Mais dès que tu veux modifier le système, c’est mort.

Là où ça se complique, c’est que j’ai une carte audio sur le gpio (carte audio BOSS DAC, de chez ALLO, au passage, que du bonheur.). Elle n’est pas reconnue avec les systèmes types OSMC (ou si reconnue, le son ne sort pas sur la carte). J’ai suivi la doc officielle, des tutos sur le net … Bref, à force de bidouiller un système, autant partir avec un nouveau.

Et je me suis dis, tant qu’à installer un système, autant prendre un OS compatible avec le hard.

Ceci, explique cela… Et puis, ça permet également d’en apprendre un peu plus.

Perso j’utilise du rock64 (version 4 et 2Go de RAM) ainsi que de l’odroid C2 pour du cluster Docker hébergé sur de l’openstack maison.

L’intérêt d’utiliser de l’ARMV8 n’est pas juste d’utiliser de la framboise mais toutes les cartes exploitant cette architecture avec un OS commun permettant de part la même pouvoir mixer les cartes pour monter du cluster hybride à moindre coût et pleinement fonctionnel avec le support de playbook Ansible.

Je recommande effectivement de sortir du cadre de Raspbian dès que vous souhaitez faire quelque chose de précis, le support de ARM V8 de Debian est amplement suffisant pour mes besoins, j’avour ne pas utiliser par contre de cartes annexes DAC ou autre ni de la sortie vidéo ou son de la carte.

Ce sont des SE dédiés et optimisés pour Kodi ; ce n’est clairement pas destiné aux bricoleurs.

Je posais la question à @gunsx au cas où un intérêt du 64 bits m’échappait en fait. Par ailleurs, utiliser de l’ARMv8 ne force pas a avoir un système en 64 bits. Je comprends par contre parfaitement le besoin d’avoir un OS “universel”.
