Xfce prend 500Mo de ram!

Bonjour a tous!
Je suis passer de etch a lenny avec le netinst (j’ai formaté mon ancienne partition) j’ai ensuite compiler le noyau 2.6-24…
Tout marche mais je trouver ma machine tres lente je fais donc un top pr voir et la :open_mouth:
Mem: 516 892k total, 505 900k used, 10 992k free, 106 500k buffers
Je suis sous xfce et openbox en essai sachant que sous etch et avec un kde bien chargé (superkaramba etc…) je n’avais pas plus de 170Mo de pris!
D’ou ca pourrais venir?

bonjour,
-avec quelles options tu as compilé ton noyau?
envois ton fichier /boot/config-2.6.24-xxx se rapportant à ton noyau compilé

-que te renvoi la commande “top” ?

En bootant sur le noyau par default (le 18) ca prend autant de ram sinon plus mais top renvoie

Chez moi free donne

Cela signifie que 334K sont utilisés dont 291K de cache disque.
Tu nous as pas donné le cache utilisé mais je te fiche mon billet que ce chiffre sera de l’ordre de 300K. Il est heureux que linux utilise la totalité de la RAM, celle non utilisée pour les applications est utilisée pour le cache disque.

Je pense que c’est bien que la majeur parti soit utilisable ms rien qu’au demarrage sans aucune autre application xfce prend 280Mo ca ne devrait pas etre plutot 50-60? En plus mon systeme est BCP plus lent maintenant qu’avec kde et compagnie…(dès que la ram est pleine en fait)

bon c’est pas xfce à lui tout seul qui pompe 500 Mo de RAM :slightly_smiling:
par contre peut etre voir pour changer de navigateur web ^^
kazehakase te pompe 50 Mo. (je croyais qu’il etait léger)

pour info avec lenny et xfce je suis actuellement à 210 Mo d’utilisé avec quelques programme qui pompent comme amsn et iceweasel.

J’ai iceweasel aussi j’essayais kazehakase réputé plus léger :unamused:
Le problème ne vient pas de xfce j’ai la meme chose (lenteur!) sous openbox :cry:

C’est normal que j’ai plusieurs fois gdm getty etc…?
Iceweasel me prend 56Mo a lui tout seul :cry:

Hum, ça n’est pas le système qui te prend du temps CPU. Peut être du coté des entrées sorties, DMA sur les disques durs?

Bien vu j’y aurais pas penser, le dma était bien désactivé :blush: après activation

hdparm -tT /dev/hda
