Q: Can you make a BIOS mod to disable Optimus?
A: I can’t do that. Some people say it is impossible.

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
...
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 0df5 (rev a1)
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00@00:02:0

(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00@00:02:0
$ lsmod | grep ^video
$ glxinfo | grep 'direct rendering'

# aptitude purge build-essential nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-dkms xserver-xorg-video-nvidia nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig
reboot

22 Sep 23:28
[PATCH] intel: Add more sandybridge device ids.
From: Robert Hooker <robert.hooker canonical.com>
This prevents failures like this when using one of these devices:
Unrecognized deviceID 116
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
Serial number of failed request: 21
Current serial number in output stream: 24
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.15.0-3~bpo60+2_amd64.deb
Seen in debian-backports on 2011-12-02 15:38:34
Donc, bah euh…
# aptitude -t squeeze-backports install xserver-xorg-video-intel
reboot
