Faire une borne d'accès wifi

J’ai une clef usb wifi linksys AE1000 , je voudrais savoir si je peux m’en servir pour permettre à tout un tas de petits appareils mobiles de se connecter en wifi grace à la connection de ma Debian Squeeze :

Premièrement
: Pour installer le pilote ralink RT_3572 , il semblerait que je doive installer ce paquet : linux-headers-generic qui n’est pas disponible dans mes paquetages . ( je suis les indications de ce fil ubuntu : http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10163301&postcount=7 .

Deuxièmement : il faudra que j’arrive à faire de cette clef une borne d’accès wifi , complètement ouverte ( pas gênant , dans ma cambrousse ) pour que toute la famille puisse se connecter par ce seul moyen .

Pour l’instant , voilà le retour que j’ai à un lsusb , la clef est reconnue :

Je me demande si je n’ai pas déjà installé le pilote vu que ça me marque Ralink RT3572 ?

A priori le chipset de ta clé est le ralink RT3572, le support est différent selon la version de Debian

pour Wheezy (la prochaine debian stable)
wiki.debian.org/rt2800usb

pour Squeeze
wiki.debian.org/rt2870sta

dans tous les cas, il faut le firmware (paquet firmware-ralink)

Ensuite, une fois la clé reconnue, il te faut créér un point d’accès wifi avec le logiciel hostapd.

Mes paquets firmware-ralink et wireless-tools sont déjà installés , j’avais dû faire ça dans de précédentes tentatives

à priori il était reconnu au démarrage

annule tes modifs, reboote et essaye

ifup wlan0

et/ou

ifconfig wlan0

parfois ça suffit pour faire apparaitre l’interface wlan0

“Reconnue”, ça ne veut pas dire grand chose. Ici, elle est simplement détectée par le sous-système USB du noyau et identifiée par lsusb, car ses identifiants sont présents dans la base de données que lsusb utilise. Cela ne présume pas de sa prise en charge par un pilote de périphérique présent.

D’après les logs du noyau lors du chargement du module rt2870sta, ce dernier ne semble pas reconnaitre la clé comme un des périphériques qu’il sait gérer. Autrement il y aurait d’autres lignes.

J’ai effacé le fichier /etc/modprobe.d/rt2870sta

J’ai rebooté et voilà ce que j’obtiens :

J’oubliais : concernant le warning de modprobe, il prévient simplement que dans une future version les fichiers dans /etc/modprobe.d/ devront avoir l’extension .conf sinon ils seront ignorés.

Les difficultés confirment que cette clef ne soit pas placée dans la liste ici : http://wiki.debian.org/rt2870sta .

Mais différentes contributions de forum montrent que certains ont réussi à faire tourner cette clef sous Ubuntu ou Debian comme ici : ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p= … ostcount=7

Que faire ?

Il faut essayer un kernel plus récent (le 3.2.x), via les backports.

ainsi ta clé devrait être supportée via le module rt2800usb

Mais j’ai une carte graphique nvidia et donc j’ai un truc comme nvidia-kernel-common .

J’en suis à la version 2.6.32… il faut donc un sacré saut jusqu’à 3.2… Je peux l’installer sans encombres sur une distribution ?

J’ai localisé les paquets linux-image dans synaptic mais je me demande si je vais devoir trouver les paquets nvidia-kernel-common correspondants …

Je ferai volontiers la mise à jour du noyau dès que j’aurai l’assurance de pouvoir conserver un système en bon fonctionnement .

J’hésite un peu à passer en 3.2 vu mon niveau . Car pour l’instant , malgré la quantité faramineuse de logiciels que j’installe ou que je désinstalle , ma Debian tient bon . Bien que j’aimerais tout de même lui faire un petit nettoyage car j’ai Iceweasel qui devient un peu spécial .

Enfin , bref , je voudrais être sûr de ne pas tout casser …

Tu peux faire une image disque de ton système, avec Clonezilla ou Redo backup (si tu as un disque externe ou une autre machine en réseau avec un dossier partagé via samba)

Installer un nouveau noyau ne supprime pas les noyaux déjà installés.

D’après ce que je lis ça le là , Grub pourrait me proposer de démarrer sur l’un ou l’autre des noyaux . Si ça bugue , je redémarre sur le noyau 2.6.32 .
