[Résolu] [XEN] installer Xen avec 4GO de RAM

Salut;

J’ai un tout nouveau serveur Dell qui va faire office de serveur hôte pour un système XEN

ce serveur ayant 4Go de RAM et j’ai donc mis une distrib 64Bits pensant que le support serait "natif"
Mais avec le kernel que j’ai installé (le dernier xen dispo en apt-get --> 2.6.18-6-xen-amd64) quand je fais un top, je n’ai que 3 GO…

Faut il que je recompile le kernel? ou y a t’il qu’un ptit truc de rien du tout à modifier pour que tout soit OK…

Y a-t-il déjà des machines virtuelles sur ce serveur ?
Dans ce cas, lorsqu’elles sont en route, elles prennent de la mémoire à l’hôte. Tu dois pouvoir voir cela avec la commande# xm list

Sinon, qu’en est-il avec le noyau normal ?

j’ai passé la commande xm list, je ne vois que mon Dom0 avec 3Go de mem…

En revanche sur un kernel plus récent (le 2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-amd64) là dans mon top j’ai bien 4Go de RAM…

Si ça passe avec le noyau de EtchnHalf 2.6.24, pourquoi recompiler ???

Je ne sais pas si c’est si simple de compiler un noyau pour xen…
Sinon, il y a un 2.6.26 en backport mais tu pourrais aussi passer en lenny

Ce qui me génait à passer en lenny c’est que c’est encore marqué en testing… ça correspond à une beta? ou c’est plus évolué que ça?

En ce moment, lenny est en phase de “deep freeze” (c’est à dire que seules les corrections de bugs critiques sont acceptées, les autres seront remises à plus tard). Son passage en stable est donc imminent (on parle du 14 février: lists.debian.org/debian-devel-an … 00000.html).
Du coup, ce n’est probablement pas très risqué de passer en lenny maintenant…
Tu peux aussi tester avec le noyau xen du backport ou simplement avec celui de lenny en adaptant ton sources.list si tu es frileux :wink:

Bon je suis passé sur lenny, mais j’ai maintenant un autre problème qui est pur Xen…
Donc pour l’install pas de soucis, je suis passé en 2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 j’ai bien le support de mes 4 Go de RAM, tout est OK

Je passe donc à la création de mes VM.
Je fais la même méthode quand j’étais sous etch et le problème, c’est que mes machines ne boot pas…

Je prends la main en faisant xm console vm1 et je reste bloqué sur

et quand je lance putty, j’ai

En gros j’ai une grosse impression que la distrib ne c’est pas installée correctement…

Je précise que je fais une install via debootstrap que j’install une lenny kernel 2.6.26-1-xen-amd64

Autre question est il possible de choisir etch comme distrib en mettant le kernel 2.6.26-1-xen-amd64?

si c’est avec xen-tools (xen-create-image…): as-tu eu des messages d’erreur lors de la création ?
tu as installé en lvm ou en loop ?

À vrai dire (et à regret), je ne connais pas bien lvm.
Les seules machines virtuelles que j’ai créée avec Xen sont en loop…
Il y a un tuto dans T&A : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13190 c’est pour etch mais pour lenny c’est plus simple pour le réseau en particulier. Il faut les paquets bridge-utils et uml-utilities et dans /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp, mettre (network-script network-bridge) puis redémarrer le démon.
Tu as fait ça ?

Sinon, il n’y a rien de particulier dans le log de création: /var/log/xen-tools/vm.log ?

as-tu édité le fichier /etc/xen-tools/xen-tools.conf ? colle le ici, pour voir
tu dois avoir une option : install-method = debootstrap
bien sûr, il faut que debootstrap soit installé sur la machine hôte, c’est le cas ?
